Stream Restoration | Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout PIT tagging and telemetry study 2012
These telemetry sites are constructed in migratory tributaries of the Teton River; the purpose to better understand Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout migration. Trout are captured via hook-and-line or by electro-shocking, PIT tags are placed inside trout using a very small incision, each tag is assigned a unique ID number. Trout with transmitters that swim through the tributary interrogation sites are recorded via solar powered equipment. Several of these projects are being funded by the Idaho fish and game with field assistance from the USDA forest service and FTR volunteers.
